Halfpenny Green Vineyards is an English wine estate near the village of Bobbington in Staffordshire. Though the vines are planted at the same latitude as Birmingham, the gentle south facing slopes combined with meticulous viticultural care ensure good ripeness and remarkable value for money. It was the vision of farmer Martin Vickers 30 years ago to plant a vineyard that would one day match continental sites. He chose the most appropriate fields and began planting, slowly and carefully, learning from his mistakes and refining his craft. Today, there are 30 acres of immaculated tended vines and Martin’s son Clive has developed his own skills in the winery. The result is a range of award-winning wines that stylistically are accessible and enjoyable, showcasing what it is possible in our English climate. We can thoroughly recommend these wines. This fresh English wine is packed with character. It is medium dry with aromas of pear, elder flower and lemon. On the palate, refreshing acidity is balanced by flavours of citrus and elder-flower with a fruit and floral finish.
