Established in 1983 by the Vickers family in South Staffordshire, Halfpenny Green now has 30 acres of vineyards which are looked after by founder, Martin Vickers. His son, Clive, is the winemaker of these award-winning wines. Sixteen different varieties are planted, most of which are hybrids suitable to the changeable English weather, but classic French grapes are planted for the production of sparkling wines. Made in the traditional (“Champagne”) method, with the second fermentation in bottle, Halfpenny Green’s sparkling wine is dry, with elegant, nutty flavours. Golden straw in colour, the nose combines grapefruit and honey with hazelnut notes. Another wine to use as an aperitif, or for weddings and functions requiring a quality, English sparkling wine at a sensible price! Seafood, antipasti or tapas make great accompaniments to this wine. A blend of Seyval Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Reichensteiner grapes.
