Established in 1983 by the Vickers family in South Staffordshire, Halfpenny Green now has 30 acres of vineyards which are looked after by founder, Martin Vickers. His son, Clive, is the winemaker of these award-winning wines. Sixteen different varieties are planted, most of which are hybrids suitable to the changeable English weather, but classic French grapes are planted for the production of sparkling wines. “Penny Black” is blended wine to reflect some of our earliest planted vines, this wine is pale gold in colour with refreshing citrus & herbal notes. It’s medium-dry and is recommended to be consumed chilled on its own, or as a stylish accompaniment to poultry and pork dishes, with stir-fries, bao buns, ramen and gyoza. A blend of Huxelrebe, Madeleine Angevine & Reichensteiner grapes.
